Wax Warning

Warning 1. Burns

Too-hot wax can damage skin. Some burns can be serious enough to blister or remove layers of skin, causing permanent scarring
Stay safe: Check if your therapist is doing a patch test on themselves before treatment.

Warning 2. Infected Hairs

Folliculitis, the inflammation of your hair roots, can cause an uncomfortable, itchy, pus-filled rash.
Stay safe: Check if your salon uses a fresh spatula for each application and ensure your therapist wears gloves.

Warning 3. Bruising

Going over the same area again and again can cause bruising. Any professional will minimise the number of repeat application and use their technique for faster and smoother movement.
Stay safe: An experienced therapist should go through all the contraindication with you if you bruise easily.

Warning 4. Sensitive Spots

Watch out for moles, waxing will cause trauma to moles and if done repeatedly; could lead to problems like malignancy.
Stay safe: Any experienced therapist will know how to take care of moles when waxing, they should avoid waxing over the mole directly.

Warning 5. Licence

When visiting a salon, ask to see their licence from the local council’s Health Department.
